Tata Power, Toshiba pact for steam turbine generators

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Aug. 10 Tata Power has signed an agreement with Toshiba Corporation for supply of five 800 MW steam turbine generators for its 4,000 ultra mega power project (UMPP) at Mundra in Gujarat.

The Japanese company’s work includes design manufacture, testing and supply of equipment related to these five units.

Tata Power recently said it had signed a contract related to super critical boilers for the five 800 MW units of the power plant with Doosan Heavy Construction Ltd, a South Korea-based company.

The Indian power company did not disclose how much the Toshiba contract was worth. But news agency reports, quoting a Toshiba spokesperson, said the contract was for $400 million.
