Mumbai, Aug. 10 The Confederation of Export Units (CEU), an apex body of 100 per cent Export Oriented Units, has appealed to the Union Minister of Commerce, Mr Kamal Nath, to include it in the recently announced export relief package.

“We are 2,037 units generating Rs 38,000-crore worth of export revenue and giving employment to 300,000 workmen directly and many more indirectly. Still, we were the only body excluded from the relief package of export, I don’t understand why,” said the CEU President, Mr S.K. Saraf.

He added that the only option now for the units was to de-bond.

The EOUs contribute to nine per cent of the country’s total exports with a net foreign exchange earning of Rs 15,000 crore.
