Reddy writes to Pranab on gas pricing

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Aug. 10

In one more missive on the ongoing natural gas pricing, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has written a letter to Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Chairman of the Empowered Group of Ministers, today.

Dr Reddy urged Mr Mukherjee to provide an opportunity for Andhra Pradesh to present its views on the pricing policy of natural gas to be explored from the Krishna-Godavari basin (KG).

The Empowered Group of Ministers has been constituted following representations made by Dr Reddy. It would look into the recommendations of the Committee of Secretaries on the gas pricing issue. The State Government would like to explain to the EGoM its stand on the gas price issue. Dr Reddy in his letter asked Mr Mukherjee to consider recommendations of the CoS headed by the Cabinet Secretary.

“The KG gas pricing is critically important to the State as we have over 2,000 MW built up gas power plants which are non-functional for want of gas,” Mr Reddy pointed out in the letter.
