Coimbatore, Aug. 11

A world textile conference on apparel and home textiles will be held here during August 16-18 jointly by the SSM College of Engineering, Komarapalayam, and the International Textile Education Consortium (ITEC).

The conference will deliberate on the latest trends in garments and home textiles covering technology, production processes, quality systems and fashions.

Eminent personalities connected with the textile trade and industry from India, and other countries, including the US, Italy, Japan, China, South Africa and Pakistan are expected to present their papers in the conference, according to Mr M.S. Mathivanan, Chairman of ITEC, who is also the Chairman of SSM College of Engineering.

The meet, according to him, is supported by Italy’s textile major Carrera Inc, University Politecnico Di Milano from Italy, Hong Kong’s Clothing Industry Training Authority, India’s textile export promotion bodies such as AEPC, PDEXCIL and Ministry of textiles.

In a statement, Mr Mathivanan said the conference was aimed at familiarising with the prevailing trends in global trade and future prospects.
