Plastics ban

The decision of the Kerala government to strictly enforce the “Ban on plastic items from September 1” (Business Line, August 10) may be welcome. But no sign of any change over is seen. Creating awareness, suggesting alte rnative methods and a smooth transition may be good.

Further there is the problem of plastic materials coming into the State from outside the State through parcels, postal department etc. For example, a large number of magazines are received in plastic covers. These problems also need to be solved.
