New Projects States - Maharashtra GEA Group setting up plate heat exchanger facility in Pune
Our Bureau Pune, Aug. 12 The GEA Group is expanding its footprint in the country with the setting up of a plate heat exchanger facility in Chakan in Pune. The company has presence in Baroda, catering to the sugar industry and Bangalore. Talking to presspersons, Mr Ulrich Fehlauer, President of GEA PHE (plate heat exchangers) Systems, said €10 million was being invested for setting up the Pune facility and it would be operational by December 2008. The company has a smaller facility in Navi Mumbai. He said the capacity of the plant would be about six lakh plates per annum and would begin the operations on a single shift. He said the Navi Mumbai facility currently caters to about 6,000 units. He said currently most of the components were being imported from Germany, but with the new facility, most of the components would be manufactured here. Mr Fehlauer said the global plate heat exchanger market was pegged at €3 billion and the domestic market was around €30 million. The company was targetting a market share of 40 per cent with about €11 million turnover by December 2007. He said it would be targetting a turnover of €12 million by December 2008 and exports of €6 million
