FICCI on UP’s pvt sector quota

New Delhi, Aug 12

The FICCI has questioned the current initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government of “voluntary” reservation of 30 per cent of jobs in the private sector for fresh investment in the State. “The effectiveness of the measure, for those who voluntarily choose to avail themselves of concessions from the State and reservations, would depend on the availability of qualified candidates for an array of positions,” the chamber said in a statement. “For t his to happen successfully, a massive training and skill formation movement across the State would have to be initiated simultaneously, targeting the Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes, minorities and economically backward members of the upper castes.” –
