Mac blast

A. Roy Chowdhury

Blast site: Police investigating the blast site at Park Street in Kolkata on Sunday. The blast occurred in the McDonalds outlet on Sunday morning killing one person and injuring four others. According to police, the shop’s front shutter and a large window pane were shattered by the explosion, which also damaged the windows of cars parked nearby. The Police Commissioner, Mr Prasun Mukherjee, ruled out any terrorist involvement in the blast, saying, “It was just an accident.” Quoting the initial findings of a forensic team, DCP Mr Javed Shamim told reporters that highly imflammable ammonia and rayon gas had accumulated inside the restaurant overnight due to a leak in the pipes of its air-conditioning
