BEML pays Rs 18-cr final dividend

Bangalore, Aug. 13

Bharat Earth Movers Ltd said it has paid the second and final dividend cheque of Rs 18 crore to the Government of India for the fiscal year 2006-07 against the Government's 61.23 per cent shareholding in the company.

The BEML CMD, Mr V R S Natarajan, handed over the cheque to the Defence Minister, Mr A K Antony, in New Delhi on Monday. With this, the defence PSU's total dividend payment for the year adds up to 120 per cent or Rs 27 crore. It has already paid Rs 9 crore as 40 per cent interim dividend in February 2007.

For the first quarter ended June 30 this year, BEML has reported sales turnover of Rs 421.78 crore and profit before tax of Rs 36.36 crore. It expects to achieve turnover of Rs 3,000 crore this fiscal. The order book is now worth Rs 1621 crore. - Our Bureau
