United Bank sets up rural institute

Kolkata, Aug. 16

United Bank of India has set up a Rural Development and Self-Employment Institute at Rajpur, 24-Parganas (South) District, where it is the Lead Bank. The institute was inaugurated by Dr Asim Dasgupta, Finance Minister, Government of West Bengal, on Tuesday, Mr P.K. Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, and Ms Sunanda Lahiri, Executive Director of the bank were also present, says a press release. The institute is located in the bank’s premises and has provision for conducting residential course for 36 people at a time. The bank has deputed a director to look after the daily affairs of the institution with two additional officers on deputation for conducting the training programmes.
