A press communique from Mr.F.R.Joseph, Regional Director, RBI, Chennai, says, "The Reserve Bank of India has been receiving complaints from some quarters about inadequate availability of coins. The bank clarifies that there is no shortage of coins and members of public, shops and commercial establishments can obtain their coin requirements from its regional offices or from designated branches of commercial banks. In case of any difficulties/problems in this regard, members of public and others can approach the Regional Directors of the concerned office of the Reserve Bank.
