Firm prices: A vendor selling maize (corn) in Thrissur, Kerala. With the country experiencing normal monsoon and maize prices ruling firm, area under the crop has increased during the current kharif season. Until August 10, 70.35 lakh hectares have been brought under maize against 63.33 lakh hectares during the corresponding period a year ago. —
