IIITM-K to start open-mode courses

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 17 The State-owned Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management – Kerala (IIITM-K), based in Technopark here, has decided to make several of its classroom courses in open mode for working professionals in industry, scientists in research and development and teachers in colleges and schools.
The subjects to be covered under the open-mode system range from information technology and software engineering to scientific computing.
According to Prof. K.R. Srivatsan, Director, the institute plans to offer courses in the areas of theoretical and applied computer science like information science and knowledge management, mathematical foundations of IT, signal systems and signal processing, control theory, e-governance, web technologies, computer architecture and organisation, embedded systems and principles of programming in future.
He said that the open-mode classrooms would help the professionals pursuing their career in and around Technopark to upgrade their skills and knowledge in the field.
Canara Bank’s Onam fair
Canara Bank will organise a seven-day Onam trade fair from August 20 to 26.
The fair will provide direct marketing outlet for artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs, especially women, who have availed themselves of finance from Canara Bank, according to a statement from the bank.
The space will be given by the bank free of cost. Items such as handicrafts, fruits, vegetables, garments etc.
