MSN Laboratories forays into formulations

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Aug. 17 MSN Laboratories Ltd forayed into formulations segment by inaugurating its facility here on Friday.

The facility would enable production of around 400 million dosage forms and eight million liquid dosage forms.

The full production capacity would be achieved over next one year, according to Dr MSN Reddy, Chairman of MSN Group. The Group, which achieved Rs 30-crore turnover in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (Rs 140 crore in the pervious fiscal), invested Rs 10 crore in the plant.

Greenfield Plant

“The formulations foray is a natural progression for us after making a strong foundation in bulk drug production. Initially we will cater to the domestic market needs and less regulated markets overseas,” Mr R. Srinivasan, General Manager (Finance), MSN Laboratories, told Business Line.

“We will be setting up a greenfield plant for regulated markets by the end of 2009,” he said. In the formulations segment, the company would focus in two/three therapeutic areas including cardiovascular and obesity, he added.
