CII vision document for South likely to be ready by Feb

Bangalore, Aug. 19 The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region’s proposed Vision Quarterly One 2025 document, that seeks to develop a long-term framework for the four States’ position in the economy in the next decade, is expected to be ready by February.

As a prelude to finalising the report, the regional council of the CII will meet here on August 30 to discuss the broad parameters.

The document, with its emphasis on people’s aspirations of the individual State rather than a broad economic parameters, will help assess and strategise the agenda for the Southern region’s pursuit of economic development.

The Bangalore meet is a sequel to the idea mooted at the regional council session in Puducherry early this month to plan a strategy to sustain the momentum of economic growth. Mr P.K. Mohapatra, Chairman, CII - Southern Region, said that with the region emerging as among the best in economic development, it was imperative to consolidate its position through a strategy of learning from the lessons of its neighbours. The VQ1, a vision document for the first quarter of the century, will attempt to achieve CII’s broader agenda of ‘Building People, Building India’, said Mr Mohapatra.

PricewaterhouseCoopers for Tamil Nadu, KPMG for Kerala and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, for Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh would put together the vision document after wide consultations with a cross section of industry, government and public.

In another step, CII-SR has mooted a ‘Southern Synergy’ that envisages the States to declare a ‘shared vision’ approach to exploit the resources and advantages of the States.
