T.E. Raja Simhan Chennai, Aug. 20 Irevna Research Services, a division of Crisil Ltd, which undertakes equity research for foreign clients, plans to hire 200 people . Irevna today has around 550 people on its rolls, over 500 of whom are professionals. Last year, 153 employees of Irevna appeared for the ‘Certified Financial Analyst’ exam, which according to Irevna’s Co-Head, India, Mr Arghya Banerjee, is the highest number sent by any company to take the course. Since inception in 2001, the Chennai-based company pioneered the ‘outsourced research’ concept, where it helps large financial institutions to carry out investment research. Core activity
It works with global firms in sell-side research (investment banks and independent research houses) and buy-side research (hedge funds and large institutional investors). Its professionals perform financial modelling and valuation, write initiation reports and earnings notes and undertake thematic research, he told Business Line. The shortage of professionals in the US and the urgency to roll out products is forcing clients to outsource more research work, he said without giving any financial details about Irevna. Irevna also has centres in New York, San Francisco, London and recently added one in Argentina.
