Our Bureau

Coimbatore, Aug. 20 Over 70 customers from diverse industries such as government, manufacturing, retail, financial services, utilities, telecommunications and healthcare are said to have taken advantage of Oracle’s grid computing architecture in its fiscal ended May 2007.

Claiming this customer traction as a demonstration of its leadership position in helping enterprises leverage grid computing through a consolidated infrastructure, the company has in a release explained Oracle’s Real Application Cluster as one of the building blocks in grid computing.

“It supports the deployment of a single database across a cluster of servers, providing unbeatable fault tolerance, performance and scalability. It needs no application changes,” the statement said.

“Organisations world over are convinced of the benefits of grid computing because it allows superior scalability and quick return on investment,” says Mr S.P.S. Grover, Vice-President, Technology Business Unit, Oracle India.
