Our Bureau

New Delhi, Aug. 21 Vijay Mallya-promoted United Breweries plans to launch a slew of new products by Diwali, including brands from the newly-acquired Whyte & Mackay, in order to further strengthen its share in the domestic alcohol beverage market.

The company will launch brands from Whyte and Mackay portfolio, including Dalomore and Isle of Jura, and will leverage on the acquisition of the Scottish distiller, said Mr Mallya, Chairman, UB Group, speaking on the sidelines of the Marketing Summit here on Tuesday, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

“Whyte and Mackay has got some strong and beautiful brands that have not been promoted properly, which we will be doing shortly,” he said.

Mr Mallya said that UB Group’s acquisition of the international liquor firm was of a strategic nature and would help the Indian firm establish international presence, while the latter’s products could benefit through the distribution network of UB in India. “What will set us apart from the rest is that we have breweries across and a strong sales network,” he added.

UB will also launch another range of liquor, Poison, powered with rum and vodka targeted at youth and also introduce a Kingfisher Ultra beer in the domestic market.
