Our Bureau Mumbai, Aug. 21 The Government of Maharashtra has granted mega status to three projects by Birla Cotsyn of the Yash Birla Group, ISMT Ltd and Precision Automation and Robotics India Ltd (PARI)in the backward regions of the state. After signing the Mou with these companies, the Chief Minister, Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh, said: “We hope to generate employment by these endeavours and promote industry in rural areas.” Birla Cotsyn is setting up an integrated textile project in 100 acres at Malkapur at an estimated cost of Rs 315 crore. The project is being set up in a cotton growing region and is aimed at giving support to the cotton growers in that region, said Mr Ashok Chavan, Minister of Stat for Industries. ISMT Ltd will expand its existing seamless tube manufacturing facility at Baramati at a cost of Rs 260 crore. The company will produce an additional 300,000 TPA of seamless tubes for domestic and international markets. “We envisage revenues of Rs 1,300 crore for the year ending March 2008 and by the financial year 2010-2011, we will touch Rs 3,000 crore of which Rs 2,200 crore will be from the Baramati plant,” said Mr Rajiv Goel, Chief Financial Officer. PARI will set up an Automation City at Dhangarwadi in Satara district to make high-technology automation products The project will commence from September 2008.
