Nissin setting up unit in Rajasthan

New Delhi, Aug. 21 Nissin Brakes India Pvt Ltd, a joint venture between Japanese component maker Nissin Kogyo and Nissin R&D Asia Co Ltd, on Tuesday announced setting up a manufacturing facility in Rajasthan at an investment of about Rs 80 crore.

The company that has 37 per cent holding of Honda Motor Co is setting up facility primarily to supply to the Japanese carmaker’s Indian subsidiary, Honda Siel Cars India and other two-wheeler companies such as Hero Honda, Honda Motors and Cycles India and Yamaha for brakes.

“We would be initially supplying to Honda’s plant at Noida and as the production commences at its new facility in Rajasthan, we would start supplying there also,” said Mr Yokinobu Namba, Vice-President, Nissin Brakes India Pvt Ltd.

He said the plant would be having a capacity of 2 lakh units for cars and 8 lakh for motorcycles and is expected to commence production in last quarter of 2008 or early 2009, he added.

Mr Kuldeep Ranka, Managing Director, Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation, had said in July that with Honda setting up its facility in Rajasthan, there was investments of about Rs 2,000 crore that was expected in the region by the company’s ancillaries.
