Sterlite Optical Hardwar plant goes on stream

Pune, Aug 22 Sterlite Optical Technologies has commenced manufacture at its new power transmission and distribution conductor facility at Hardwar.

The company, a global provider of power transmission conductors, optical fibre and telecommunication cables, now has cumulative manufacturing capacity of 115,000 tonnes.

The facility includes the latest generation drawing and stranding machines capable of manufacturing standard and specialised power conductor products.

A rolling mill capable of producing specialised mechanical alloys is being installed and will be commissioned in September.

Mr Pravin Agarwal, Director, said: “We have achieved another milestone towards our vision to be among the top three global manufacturers of power transmission conductors.”

At the start of the second quarter, the company had an order book of Rs 980 crore from domestic and global markets for its power transmission conductor products.

Over 75 per cent of these contracts would be executed during the current fiscal, a statement said.
