Print-n-pack expo from today

Madurai, Aug. 22

The Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries’ Association (Maditssia) is organising a ‘Print-n-pack 2007’ exhibition in the city from Thursday, to showcase advanced technologies in printing and packaging.

The exhibition, organised on international standards and approved by India Trade Promotion Organisation, would provide the entrepreneurs an opportunity to enhance the quality of work and help increase productivity. The approval implied that equipment such as printers could be brought from abroad without paying duty. The payment would be required only for the products sold, according to Mr Rm Lakshminarayanan, Chairman of the exhibition.

Presentation would made of latest technologies in printing such as ‘computer to plate’ and ‘computer to polymer’. All kinds of printing and packaging equipments both domestic and imported would be on display for the benefit of entrepreneurs, he said, while addressing the media persons here.

A seminar on computer graphics for entrepreneurs and students would be held on August 25.

While businessmen have been exclusively allotted a time slot between 11 a.m and 4 p.m, the general public could visit between 4 p.m and 8 p.m. He said 167 entries have been received for ‘The Hindu Best Print’ awards and 45 of them had been short-listed.
