Our Bureau

Kochi, Aug. 22 Speed post services will be extended to all post offices in Kerala Postal Circle from September 1.

This extension is being initiated in Kerala first and will be implemented throughout the country.

In the initial stage, the service will be available at 266 national speed post centres which will be connected to 1,266 major cities in the country through village post offices.

Apart from 1,266 centres, the services will also be available to 97 foreign countries from the departmental offices.

From the Nettur and Vallarpadam village post offices under Ernakulam Postal Division, speed post can be sent to foreign countries.

Mr P.C. Paulose, Senior Postal Superintendent, Department of Posts, Ernakulam Division, said that the Indian Postal Services with its wide network throughout the country will be a cheaper and faster service provider than any other courier service.

With this, speed post service will be available in 65 village post offices and in 74 departmental post offices under the Ernakulam division.
