A young tourist from abroad tries his hand at the steering wheel of a houseboat in the backwaters of Alappuzha in Kerala. The State’s total revenue from tourism sector in 2006 was Rs 9.126 crore, an increase of 17.94 per cent over the previous year’s figures, according to Tourists Statistics-2006, Government of Kerala.
