Solar Semi, German co ink deal

Hyderabad, Aug. 23

Solar Semiconductor, a focussed renewable energy technology company has signed a multi-year agreement with Q-Cells of Germany which is the largest independent solar cell manufacturer. The tie-up signed recently involves the supply of 156 mm, mono and multi-crystalline solar cells, valued at approximately $170 million. These cells would be used for high quality module production in Solar Semiconductor’s automated Solar PV Module manufacturing plant in India. Solar P V (Photovoltaic) modules are used in the generation of clean power and is among the most promising of renewable energy sources at present.

Commenting on the agreement, Mr Hari Surapaneni, the Chief Executive Officer of Solar Semiconductor said “Q-Cells is known for providing high quality solar cells. Reliable, consistent and high quality A-grade cell supply is of strategic importance for Solar Semiconductor to ensure our commitment to deliver high quality PV Modules to our customers across the world”. — Our Bureau
