Chennai, Aug. 23 TCL India Holdings Pvt Ltd is looking at expanding its range of products by introducing small home appliances. The company, which announced a new brand strategy — the creative life — here today, hopes to grow its business by 30 per cent this year from a turnover of Rs 325 crore last year.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Warren Wang, Managing Director, TCL India Holdings, said the creative life, standing for creativeness invigorates life, means the company will work on consumer perception to recommend products that are unique and specially designed to offer user value. The company spends about seven per cent of its turnover on market promotion.

Its product range includes colour televisions, air-conditioners, washing machines and DVD players. The company is studying the market to expand this range with small home appliances such as magnetic induction cookers, microwave ovens and rice cookers.

TCL’s business in India accounts for less than one per cent of its global revenues but India is a ‘high potential’ market and one of the largest for colour televisions, he said.

Mr Rajesh Rathi, Vice-President – Sales, TCL, said the southern States were the company’s strongest markets but the West and East were fast catching up. The company hopes to build its network in the North to increase its presence there.

The parent company, TCL Holdings, is a global player with a brand valuation of $4.7 billion and a presence in over 100 countries.

It is among the world’s largest television manufacturers with sales of over 21 million sets in 2006.
