Era Infra bags ORR phase II mandate

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Aug. 24 The Delhi-based Era Construction Ltd on Thursday announced that its arm Era Infra Engineering Ltd, has bagged an order for design, development and maintenance of an eight-lane access controlled highway under phase II of Outer Ring Road in and around Hyderabad.

The project will be jointly executed with Induni CIE & SA, a 100-year-old Swiss company engaged in highway construction.

This package stretches over 12 km to be executed on a build operate and transfer (BOT) annuity basis through a special purpose vehicle — Hyderabad Ring Road Project Pvt, Ltd.

Phase one of the project is being executed by two international companies. This eight-lane project is to be completed within 30 months.

Land acquisition

For the second phase of outer ring road project, four developers were chosen for five packages through international competitive bidding process. Most of the land acquisition for phase II has been completed.

The 61.8-km ORR Phase II is being executed under the annuity model wherein the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority, the anchor agency, would pump in 25 per cent of the total project cost.

Meanwhile, work on the four-lane 24 km road stretch to the Greenfield International airport coming up near Hyderabad (to be operational by March 2008) is being expedited, despite hurdles.
