Human Resources SAP hiring people with domain expertise
Our Bureau Kolkata, Aug. 24 SAP India is looking to hire people having expertise in domains such as retail, public services, utilities and the BFI (banking, finance & insurance) space, among others. The company, which has been adding 300-400 new customers every quarter, feels that its manpower strength would have to be augmented to keep pace with the growth in business. Mr Ranjan Das, the newly-appointed President & CEO of SAP India Subcontinent, said building a good team with people having domain expertise and delivery capabilities was a major focus area for him. He, however, said that it was too early to put a figure on the incremental headcount that the company was likely to have in India in the years ahead. SAP India currently has a manpower strength of 4,200. New products
The other focus area is to engage the services of more value engineers and introduce more products in India. He expressed the hope that, given the knowledge that Indian companies have on the benefits of deploying IT, pushing new products into the mainstream would take lesser time. Mr Das said tapping the potential in the retail sector was a crucial part of SAP India’s business strategy. He said SAP was open to “tuck-in” acquisitions as well. He said that the global board of SAP as well as it senior management would meet in Delhi on August 27-29. This would be the first time that the SAP global board would be having a meeting in India, he said.
