Rail line in Sikkim to cost Rs 1,329 cr

New Delhi, Aug 24

Construction of new line in Sikkim from Sivok to Sanpo would cost Rs 1,329 crore. The Minister of State for Railways, Mr R. Velu, stated this in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today. He said “In Sikkim, survey for new line from Sivok to Sangpo has been completed recently. As per survey report, cost of construction of this 52- km long line has been assessed as Rs 1,329 crore. New lines have been taken up from Dimapur to Zubza (Kohima) in Nagaland, Harmuti-Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh and Azra-Byrnihat, Dudhnoi-Depa in Meghalaya. Survey for new line in Mizoram from Bairabhi to Sairang has been completed and proposal has been processed for necessary clearances, he added.
