Mangalore, Aug. 26 Enthused by response to the ‘Corp Compassion’ scheme where the Corporation Bank donates Rs 10 to underprivileged children for every savings account opened, the bank has decided to extend it to Current Accounts opened during the next five weeks starting Monday.

Mr B. Sambamurthy, the bank’s Chairman and Managing Director, conferred the ‘Corp Compassion’ awards to 14 zonal managers at the bank’s business conference in Mangalore on Saturday. He said that the recently concluded ‘Corp Compassion’ campaign received overwhelming response from the public.

In a limited period of 70 days during the campaign period, over 3.6 lakh customers opened a Savings Bank account. “Enthused by the huge response, the bank will be extending ‘Corp Compassion’ to new Current Accounts opened during the next five weeks commencing August 27. The bank will donate Rs 25 for every new Current Account opened during the above period, to the cause of the underprivileged,” he said.

A bank release said here that the two-day zonal managers’ conference, which began in Mangalore on Friday, took stock of the performance of the bank during the year, and chalked out business strategies for the remaining period of the year.

The bank has chalked out plans to add at least one million customers during the year to reach a business level of Rs 85,000 crore. It has plans to open 75 more branches during the year, thus crossing the network strength of 1,000 branches across the country, the release added.
