Power tariff

“At Rs 4.50 per unit, power tariff cuts India Inc’s competitiveness” (Business Line, August 25). That should make us think seriously and work for producing or securing quality power for supply at cheaper rate. We have lots of resources such as coal, wind, sunlight, water, gas, untapped hydro-electric potential etc and, of course, nuclear energy. Perhaps, the controversy over the Indo-American nuclear deal has given the best opportunity for the people to know about the various options and to clear all doubts about its benefits or otherwise.

A. Jacob Sahayam, Thiruvananthapuram
