Events States - Andhra Pradesh Banks told to go the extra mile
Visakhapatnam, Aug 27 Banks can no longer rely on banking alone, if they have to survive in the present competitive age, and it is the value-added, non-banking services, which really attract the customers, according tothe Chairman and Managing Director of Andhra Bank, Mr K. Ramakrishnan. Mr Ramakrishnan, appointed as the honorary professor by the Andhra University, was addressing the students of commerce and management – Dimensions in customer care in service industry. He said the days of conventional banking were over and both the public and private sector banks would have to find ways and means to be pro-active in fulfilling customer needs and expectations. Citing the example of Andhra Bank, he said the branches were offering facilities for the customers to recharge their cellular phones. “Strictly speaking, it is not banking, but what counts now is the value-added service.” — Our Bureau
