Our Bureau Bangalore, Aug. 28 The Karnataka Government’s high-level committee has cleared Reliance Industries Ltd’s proposal to set up a Rs 2,400-crore gas-based power project at Humnabad in Raichur. The 2x400 MW project will come up on 200 acres of land in Dhumansur village and will mainly meet the power consumption of its retail outlets across the State. The Mukesh Ambani group proposal is among the 59 projects cleared by the committee headed by the Chief Minister on Tuesday. The projects amount to investments of Rs 63,561 crore, the Industry Minister, Mr Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, told a news briefing later. He announced clearance to two more thermal power projects in northern Karnataka, both to be set up by Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd involving a total investment of Rs 10,460 crore. These include a 1,000-mw unit at Raichur at a cost of Rs 4,160 crore; and a 1,500-MW one at Bellary at an estimated Rs 6,300 crore. JUPITER’S PROJECTS
The Rajeev Chandrasekhar-owned Jupiter Aviation has been permitted to start a technology campus with an aviation training academy and an ICD on 540 acres of land at Hassan. Jupiter is investing Rs 630 crore in the project. Its sibling company Hindustan Infrastructure Projects & Engineering Ltd is investing Rs 450 crore in a venture comprising a golf village, retail mall, convention centre and a superspeciality hospital, also at Hassan. This is to be close to the new Hassan airport which Jupiter has just started constructing. 10 INFOTECH SEZS
The Minister said cleared projects include 10 IT/ITES SEZs of Rs 4,634 crore investments; an electronic hardware park of Rs 220 crore; a Rs 59-crore textiles SEZ by Jade Holdings at Bidar; and a Rs 92-crore biotechnology SEZ.
