DustVen sets up Rs 6-crore fabrication facility

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Aug. 29 DustVen, a Bangalore-based company manufacturing air pollution control equipment (APC), on Wednesday announced setting up a new facility at a cost of Rs 6 crore for the fabrication of APC equipment equivalent of 400 tonnes per month per shift.

The company already has a small unit in Peenya Industrial Area with a 25-tonne capacity. It also outsources 75 tonnes to meet customer demand.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Bail Bharath, Managing Director, said the demand for pollution control equipment is set to increase with core sectors like cement, steel and power required to conform to emission standards.

Market worth

The market for pollution control equipment is estimated at Rs 900 crore, with the unorganised sector having a fair share.

Mr Bharath said DustVen currently had a market share of three to four per cent and hoped to increase it considerably after the new unit starts production.

He said the Dobaspet faculty has been built to match international manufacturing standards and that the company has targeted a capacity of 200 tonnes per month in two months.

This would help reduce dependence on vendors and enable the company to achieve higher and consistent quality of its equipment.

Export aims

The company would also be adding laser cutting and milling machines during the year to achieve higher productivity and quality. With an aim to capture export orders, the company thought it imperative to acquire this capability, Mr Bharath said.

The company hopes to achieve a turnover of Rs 20 crore during 2006-07 and with more orders in line, expects a 100 per cent increase by next year.
