Markets - New Fund Offer
Micro-cap funds come of age

Nilanjan Dey

Kolkata, Aug 29

Fund houses, which are increasingly urging investors to be aware of micro-caps’ potential, are churning out more and more products aimed at this segment.

The latest to join the league is ICICI Prudential MF, which has just filed an offer document with SEBI.

The fund in question is a three-year close-ended fund. Micro-cap companies have been defined as those with a market cap “below the market cap of top 250 companies in BSE 500”.

Incidentally, as on July 16, the market cap of the 250th company in the index is Rs 2,168 crores, the offer document has noted.

Some of the fund houses that have toyed with the idea in recent times are DSP Merrill Lynch MF, JM MF and Sundaram BNP Paribas MF.
