Our Bureau

Mumbai, Aug 30 Phoenix Mills Limited through its wholly owned subsidiary, Pallazzio Hotel and Leisure Ltd, has signed a hotel management agreement with Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts to operate their upcoming hotel in Mumbai.

This project at Lower Parel is likely to be operational by end 2009, said Mr Atul Ruia, Director, Phoenix Mills.

The luxury hotel will have 300 to 400 rooms with a sky lobby (on the top floor). Parking space for 3,000 cars will be provided in the composite mall and hotel design.

Phoenix Mills Limited will retain exclusive rights for the Shangri-La brand in the Mumbai region and it will be part of the High Street Phoenix development.

Shangri La Hotels will be responsible for four key aspects — management of property, branding, technical assistance and reservations that includes sales and marketing.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, an Asia Pacific luxury hotel group, currently manages 53 hotels under the five-star Shangri-La and four-star Traders brands, with a room inventory of over 24,000. The hotel group has over 45 projects under development in Austria, Canada, China, France, India, Japan, Macau, Maldives, Philippines, Qatar, Seychelles, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
