BHEL bags Rs 1,990-cr order


New Delhi, Aug 30

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has won an order for the supply and installation of the steam generator and steam turbine packages at the upcoming Vallur Thermal Power Project at Ennore in Tamil Nadu involving two units of 500 MW each. Valued at over Rs 1,990 crore, the orders for the power project have been placed by NTPC-Tamil Nadu Energy Company Ltd, a joint venture company of NTPC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Being set up under the mega power project policy, t he project is targeted for synchronisation during the 11th Plan and will add nearly 24 million units every day to the grid on commissioning. BHEL’s scope of work involves design, engineering manufacture, supply, and erection and commissioning of steam generators, turbine generators, electrostatic precipitators and associated auxiliaries, besides controls and instrumentation system. —
