IT SEZ cleared for Kakinada

Kakinada, Aug. 31

A second special economic zone for IT and ITES has been cleared for Kakinada. According to a press release issued here by Mr M.M. Pallam Raju, the Union Minister of State for Defence and Lok Sabha member representing Kakinada constituency, the IT SEZ proposal was cleared by the board for approvals attached to the Union Commerce Ministry in New Delhi. The SEZ would be developed by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) in Government barren land in the vicinity of Kakinada at a cost of Rs 182.40 crore. The SEZ is expected to generate 5,000 jobs directly and more than 7,000 indirectly. The Union Minister said the two SEZs would give a great boost to the development of the port town. – Our Bureau
