Outlook Corporate - Research & Development Samsung to expand R&D facilities in India
Our Bureau New Delhi, Aug. 31 Korean consumer electronic giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd on Friday announced the expansion of its Research and Development (R&D) centres in India, China and Poland. Samsung’s existing R&D centres in India and China will see an increase in the number of engineers and expansion of its facilities, while at Warsaw, Poland, a new telecom R&D organisation will be established. The R&D centres will start their projects from this autumn. The new R&D organisations will focus on software engineering of mobile phones and customisation of applications for its respective markets. Market Position
Mr Geesung Choi, President of Samsung’s Telecommunication Network Business, said: “Samsung has been committed to long-term development in emerging markets such as Central Europe, India and China. With strong local R&D organisations, I expect to continuously strengthen our market position in these regions.” Samsung’s Telecommunication Network Business, which covers mobile phone and telecom infrastructure, currently operates five overseas R&D Centres in UK, US, China, Israel and India.
