Credit plan for Tuticorin district

Madurai, Aug. 31 The Annual Credit Plan for Tuticorin district envisages a credit flow of Rs 1,481.99 crore for the year 2007-08, registering an increase of 16.9 per cent over the previous year.

While the agricultural sector has been allocated Rs 697.07 crore, the allocation to non-farm and other priority sectors is put at Rs 416.54 crore and Rs 369.38 crore, respectively.

Though the disbursement during the last fiscal was aimed at Rs 1,264.74 crore, the actual disbursal of credit was to the tune of Rs 1,578.6 crore, it was informed at a meeting held at the Collectorate. Releasing the Plan for 2007-08 at the meeting, the District Collector, Mr R. Palaniandi, urged the banks to act as catalysts for industrial growth and uplift the rural poor, the sources said.
