‘Indian lost Rs 3.5 cr due to strike’

New Delhi, Sept.1Indian, the state owned airline and now part of Air India, incurred a loss of Rs 3.5 crore due to loss of contribution, additional expenditure on hotel, food and conveyance for flights disrupted during the two day flash strike called by the Air Corporation Employees Union (ACEU) in June this year, the Minister for Civil Aviation, Mr Praful Patel told the Rajya Sabha .

The ACEU members had gone on a flash strike all over the country from June 12 demanding revision of wages, allowances and a better career progression plan.

A memorandum of settlement covering revision of pay scales and allowances, payment of arrears, career progression of specified category of workmen among other was signed in conciliation with ACEU employees on June 15 this year, Mr Patel said.

The Minister also informed Parliament that the low cost arm of Air India, Air India Express plans to start domestic operations from October this year.
