Announcements States - Andhra Pradesh BHPV delivers pipes to Dredging Corp
Our Bureau Visakhapatnam, Sept. 2 Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Ltd (BHPV) here has supplied sunken pipes to the Dredging Corporation of India for its operations at Paradip and Haldia ports. BHPV, which received the first order worth Rs 24.15 crore for supply of the pipes, delivered the first batch of 38 pipes two months ahead of schedule. The consignment was flagged off on Saturday evening by Mr A.K Dhar, Chairman and Managing Director of the DCI, for transport to Paradip work site. Mr Dhar said the order was awarded to BHPV on nomination basis with a delivery schedule of 34 weeks. He said he was impressed with the facilities at the BHPV plant here and the DCI would be happy to place more orders. Mr Om Prakash, Managing Director of BHPV, thanked Mr Dhar for reposing faith in the company. Mr Om Prakash said BHPV had improved its performance in recent times and during 2006-2007 the sales turnover touched Rs 182-crore mark, the highest in five years. The gross margin had become positive after a lapse of five years and the net losses had been reduced to Rs 36 crore from Rs 72 crore. During the current financial year, he said, the company had bagged orders worth Rs 90 crore, taking the value of orders on hand to Rs 365 crore. The revival of the company by merging it with the BHEL was in the final stages, he added.
