Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 3 Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL) has launched two new vaccines, BioHib, the first indigenously developed and manufactured Haemophilus Influenza type b (Hib) vaccine in the country, and a tetravalent combination vaccine, Comvac4-HB.

The entire development of BioHib was handled in-house by the Hyderabad-based company which had invested “several millions of dollars over last four years,” according to a release.

Haemophilus influenza type b (Hib) bacterium causes serious disease, often life-threatening illnesses in young children including meningitis and severe pneumonia.

“BioHib has the ability to save the lives of millions of children worldwide at a very affordable price. The tetravalent and pentavalent vaccines give us the ability to protect children against multiple infectious diseases with a single injection,” Mr Krishna M. Ella, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Biotech, said.
