LIC donates wheel chairs

Hyderabad, Sept. 4

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), South Central Zone, donated 10 wheel chairs to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad. Mr S. Viswanathan, Zonal Manager, LIC, South Central Zone, said the corporation had earmarked Rs 60 lakh to distribute over 5,000 calipers in association with NIMS. “We are also donating a van to Shantiniketan, Hyderabad, a residential institute for mentally-challenged children.” Dr D. Prasad Rao, Director, NIM S, said the institute conducted a special study on heart and other diseases among the children. “The results of a pilot study have been submitted to the State Government. Corporates such as LIC should come forward to support these projects,” he said. –
