Internet Marketing - Strategy Variety - Entertainment & Leisure Now, Indiaka Hero reality show on Net
V. Rishi Kumar Hyderabad, Sept. 4 Popular television contests such as Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Great Indian Laughter Challenge and Indian Idol, are now set to get on to the Internet. The Hyderabad-based NowPos is ready to launch Indiaka Hero. The contest spread over four categories – jokes, songs, dance and mimicry — is slated later this month on the Net. The Director of NowPos (for Now Possible), Mr L. Ravichander, said there is a lot of demand for such contests and increasingly youth enjoy taking part in them. Significantly, this medium helps bypass the stage fear, many people suffer from as also handicaps. “All these popular TV shows managed to attract millions of people away from some of the popular soap operas and we expect this new offering from NowPos to be able to do this to people familiar with PCs. People love to be part of excitement in contests and ratings and this will create first such platform over the Internet, and is lot different from what social networking sites offer,” Mr Ravichander said. “The rules of the game will be pretty simple. One has to just log into the site and take part in the contest. There is no participation fee. However, for those who win, we have lined up prizes,” he said. How will NowPos make money? This will be by way of advertisements and sponsorships just like on the television. NowPos commenced its operations as a company with a vision to harness the power of voice as a medium to communicate over the Internet as this bypasses the issues relating to language barrier. It launched VMail (voice mail) service wherein one can record voice using a microphone and then send it over the Internet. Content safety
Asked about content safety, Mr Ravichander said: “all the content would be screened that is, have official audit to conform to common audience. We have made it clear and this would be part of the rules of the contest itself.”
