Freedom from fear

This refers to “Terrorism: Fear over the city” (Business Line, September 4).

Terrorism has become a growing threat spreading to areas previously considered safe. Steps need to be taken to free people from fear.

A “Know your neighbour” campaign must be launched. Towns and cities should be covered by Residents’ Associations as in the case of Thiruvananthapuram and steps should be taken to ease congestion.

Also, provision of Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) should be given importance to bring prosperity to villages rather than shift poverty to towns and cities.

A. Jacob Sahayam Thiruvananthapuram
