Under pressure

Ruling low: Turmeric being packed in a gunny bag at a wholesale outlet in Kochi. Sluggish demand and ample stocks due to early harvest of turmeric due to heavy rains in North India are putting pressure on turmeric prices. Production is estimated to be 42-45 lakh bags compared with 51 lakh bags last year owing to lower acreage. This could help prices gain in the medium to long term. –
