Standards & Benchmarks Variety - Toys Mattel toy recall: ‘Impact in India minuscule’
Our Bureau Mumbai, Sept. 5 The world’s largest toymaker Mattel said the impact in India, of the voluntary recall of some of its products, is restricted to specific parts of two Barbie accessories. The company has been recalling some of its China-made toys worldwide for the excessive amounts of lead paint that they may contain. The impact in India is minuscule, and no Barbie dolls are included in the recall, said a statement from Mattel. Specific parts
The recall in India is restricted to only 7,500 units of ‘Deluxe furniture assortment’ and ‘premium playset assortment’ sold since January 2007, it said. Customers have been asked to return these parts to the company. The items in the assortments consist of kitchen, bathroom and living room playsets, including a miniature cat and dog, and a purse. “This recall is a result of Mattel’s ongoing research against increased lead content and not a result of any injury caused to any customer. Mattel is voluntarily re-calling toys to ensure safety standards for kids,” it said.
