Brands Corporate - New Projects Triumph Intl manufacturing unit near Chennai
Our Bureau Chennai, Sept. 5 Lingerie manufacturer Triumph International is setting up its manufacturing unit at Maraimalai Nagar, near Chennai. The brand has 16 manufacturing facilities all over the world. Though the company has a presence in India through Intimate Fashions, this will be its first own facility in the country. Triumph has acquired 14 acres of land to put up a five-lakh sq ft facility. In the first phase, it may employ around 1,300 people and will take it to over 2,500 in the second phase. Globally, the Switzerland-headquartered Triumph produces over 200 million units annually and has a workforce of 42,000. According to Mr Jan Rosenberg, Director, Triumph International, the company has invested close to $10 million in the facility. About 80 per cent of the products manufactured in the factory in Chennai will be exported, while the rest would be for the domestic market. The average price range of the lingerie would range of Rs 400 to Rs 1,200. “We are currently focusing on women’s innerwear and are making sure Indian women have access to Triumph’s complete international collection here in India. The company also plans to launch its premium menswear brand, Sloggi Men, in India, shortly,” said Mr Rosenberg.
