L&T bags Rs 1,205-cr order from Bhushan Steel

Mumbai, Sept. 5 Larsen & Toubro Ltd has said that its ECC Division, in consortium with Paul Wurth, Italy, has bagged a Rs 1,205-crore order from Bhushan Steel Ltd for turnkey construction of a 2.5-million tpa (mtpa) blast furnace for their plant in Meramandali, Angul, Orissa.

L&T’s share in this project is Rs 760.5 crore.

Paul Wurth’s will be responsible for basic engineering, supply of proprietary and special equipment and technical supervisory services. L&T will take up the detail engineering, supply of indigenous mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works including complete site services involving civil, structural and erection works.

The project is to be completed in 28 months commencing from December.

This is L&T’s third successive order for the construction of large capacity blast furnaces. The consortium is commissioning a 2.5 mpta blast furnace on a turnkey basis for Tata Steel at Jamshedpur, which is nearing completion.
